Celebrate

Happy Fourth of July to my fellow Yanks! I'm thinking of dressing up in head to toe gingham (in red white and blue, of course) and seeking out some fireworks and some BB-Q.
Beyond the national holiday, however, I'd like to take a moment and celebrate MY independence. I am creating a life where I can feel good about what I'm doing, and how I'm doing it. I celebrate Independence today-  to those who choose to run small independent businesses. I am committed to supporting small businesses, and the people who run them, who are, in my opinion, the foundation of the American Dream. I feel fortunate to live in a society where I can vote with my dollar and make my voice heard. I would like to raise my voice to join others to create a loud chorus that sings the culture of opportunity and sustainability.

In your world, how will you celebrate your independence?

A big thanks to IFB for including me in their Links Ala Mode this week.

Spice Girls

Edited by: Jess of Fresh Jess

This week, the Spice Girls got together to announce their support for the upcoming musical Viva Forever, which is inspired by their Girl Power movement. The fearless, limitless supergroup has come so far since they burst onto the scene 16 years ago. They’ve inspired millions of girls around the world to go after their dreams, and paved the way for bloggers like you and I to share our individual styles and passions with the world. My picks this week reflect how IFBers are spicing up their life this summer. From Beetlejuice and the streets of Tokyo to the bright colors and light fabrics of the season, the variety of style expression has never looked so good. Even Victoria Beckham would be proud!

Happy 4th July, you spectacular woman!!
I celebrate my independence every day I'm alive. I'm lucky to be born in a country that accepts that I have no wish to marry, have children or that I need a man on my arm, unless I choose to. Can't get better than that! xxx

You look lovely! I've got romantic visions of you in head to toe gingham on a rug in meadow, by one of those clapperboard barns - I'm sure it's not like that at all but I hope you had fun! xxx

Wheeeeee! YES! As a proud Amercian, I always celebrate our independence, and my own especially. It's so easy for us to take our freedom for granted. Funny, when I was in Australia, which is by no means oppressed, I couldn't believe how many freedoms have been taken from them. Even my Hubby marvels at how much freer life used to be there. We have an unrivaled existence in these United States. Thanks for reminding us of that!

Can't wait to read more about your adventures. Stay well!
