SEATTLE-BASED BLOSSOM SELLING VINTAGE + PRE-LOVES FOR YOU TO BLOOM MADLY.
Wonderful idea, Bella! I am always trying to get people to shop second-hand. So many people I know are uncomfortable with it. I feel like I already have made this commitment to myself and the planet. But I also still shop retail for certain things for my very tall self that I would likely not find second-hand. This pledge will make me try harder to find those things - long inseams being the main one - that I lazily shop online retail for. I would love a widget...something small like the size of your Over 40 blog roll widget would be perfect. Thank you, Bella! Adrienne
This is great!! I want to join, as I DO shop secondhand first. And I agree with Adrienne, a widget would be great...!Yours sincerely,Sara from Ladylike Delicacy
I am taking the pledge. The pledge widget is gorgeous!
I would guess that 90% of my wardrobe consists of vintage. The hardest thing to find is shoes ... Hard to really promise to always wear second hand, but this initiative is wonderful! Tomorrow I'll talk second hand and remake with a bunch of youngsters. it will be so fun!
Can I post it to my FB page? I don't have a blog...here in Italy it's difficult to convince people to shop second hand as second hand shops are mostly vintage shops that mostly have expensive stuff that retails above 100 €...but we have weekly markets, that's the way here we shop second hand, markets that have tables with heaps of clothes on them and all you have to do is rummage and rummage...that's very fun too!
I'm going to be adding this to my blog tonite!! love the widget!!
Good advise . You know I am a true blue follower
My pledge will pop up in tomorrow's post on my blog. :-) And I grabbed the widget, too. I love this!!
I'm taking the pledge! I already do this, so I'm excited to be finding others like me!! I'll be posting this on my blog soon!xoxoxtheefface.blogspot.com
I love it I shop second hand all the time I live on a budget due to being on a medical retirement from law enforcement and I only get a $500.00 per month so thrift stores and yard sales are my "malls" I added your widget to my blog!! http://wildwillows.wordpress.com
How could I not take such a wonderful, life-affirming pledge? With all this Black Friday nonsense around the webz this week, my skin crawls at the thought of all the packaging wastage, cheap but poorly-made goods for sale that will be destined for landfill in a few months or a couple of years time and the people who made the goods who could never afford to buy them on the paltry wages they get. Thank you Bella xoxo
I'm in! What a wonderful idea!
Love this idea and the widget! Definitely in
My blog is at wwww.gabsatrucker.com Not really a fashion blog, just a mish-mash of random stuff, when I get around to posting that is!Gabby
Hi, Just letting you know that 'm in also. I'm from Australia (Victoria) and mainly shop 2nd hand anyway, but this pledge will make me think twice about buying new. Great idea - thankyou. And enjoy the run up to Christmas. Blessings - from Clare
Yes, I'm going to do it! I've just been lazy so far, but I am going to look for unique, recycled goods, or upcycle my own. I promise.
I'm in! Love this pledge!Posted on my blog (right side) and will do a post here soon about it. Did I mention I LOVE this kind of pledge?! ;)Cat
I am totally in! I am a self proclaimed thirfter diva lol! Thanks for the widget already in my fashion site. ^_^Kim, USA
I'm in! http://ula-marie.blogspot.com
How bizarre, I was sure I'd responded to this! The widget is up, the pledge has been taken and I'm doing it. 99% of my Christmas shopping has been second-hand, vintage or ethically and/or locally made too!
I'm onboard! :)
I've never really shop like that so Im totaly onboard!!
Always, second hand first :)
I'm in with the pledge and can't wait to get the widget on my blog.
I posted the original image awhile back, but just added the widget to my blog sidebar! Glad to have a thing that outlines my shopping practices!
I've been doing this for years! It not only makes good sense from a sustainability point of view but also an economic one. So good to see such a strong movement!
I've always thrifted, but since opening a thrift store practically everything comes from there now! I do buy comfortable shoes new. That's my splurge, but when you thrift about everything else you wear it all works out. Debbie
Been doing this for years! It brought the fun back to shopping for me. Second hand shopping always feels like an adventure because you never know what you might find!

Totally took the pledge! Fun!!!
Great idea - I've been doing it for some time, but love the idea of a badge on the site..... once I work how to do it :P Vintage by name, vintage by nature when it comes to technology!www.mancunianvintage.com
I've taken the pledge :) Been meaning to do it for ages since I've been *living* it for years, but my blog has been quiet for months.Excellent widget, excellent sentiment. Shopping second-hand is more exciting anyway. You never know what you might find! You have so much more liberty to create your own style.. Tea For Two
I couldn't think of any other way to live ~ always second hand first! It's the most responsible route to take. Also, your look is more unique. Thanks or putting this together!
I am an avid thrifter with (thankfully) some wonderful thrift shops in my area. Good to find you all!http://newfie-girl.blogspot.com
As a frugal fashionista I love this pledge!
This is amazing. Secondhand, thrifting, however you look at it has been a way of life with me from the days when my budget and time evaporated and I couldn't sew anymore. Now that I have retired, I am looking at finds toward upcycling them using my stash of old buttons, especially. The wonderful part of this all is that my 29 year old daughter who was appalled that I would shop at a thrift store a few years ago is a dyed-in-the-wool thrifter herself now and has found that living in San Francisco is a great place to be herself style-wise on a limited budget. Thank you for a chance to speak out and I hope that more people will think of the greenness of this lifestyle.
I am going to add the widget to my blog tonight. I actually took this pledge at the beginning of 2013 with the exception of shoes, tights and underwear... and I am going to keep up with it in 2014, too. So great to know to have like-minded people here!
Second hand is great! The thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of saving money and treasures are incomparable.
The concept of your blog is awesome, because it is what we believe in too! We have an eclectic mix of food, fashion, art and travel- you have inspired us to bring our passion for sustainability more to the forefront! Check out our blog http://www.ceylaroux.com/! Good luck and happy new year.
Count me in!
count me in...this year is my second year :)
I took the pledge! :)
I have shopped second hand first for over 4 decades. I have often been the brunt of jokes and even derision because I bought "used". Now many of these same people ask to join me to shop at thrift, consignment stores and flea markets. To reuse, to repurpose, and yes, even to occasionally "dumpster dive" is not only fun, economical, but a commitment to sustainability. I suppose you could say that I took the pledge a long time ago and I am proud to be a part of this community.
...i'm in!!!...what is a widget!?!
An awesome post by Wean taking the pledge! http://weansfrugalworld.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/raise-your-right-hand-and-take-pledge.html
My excuse for being the last to grab the widget is I was living on a bone marrow unit. Pretty good, huh?Love you for doing this, girl!
I always felt silly putting this widget up on my blog as I've shopped secondhand first for over 40 years. But in support of you and all you do for the community I decided its time, so up it goes! XXX Jet
I support the pledge :)
Always secondhand first! Well, maybe not underwear. ;)
