Lounge Lizard

Now Playing: Rocking in an ethically made Burgundy Brocade EDUN Blazer
I knew when I left the house in this get-up, I wasn't going for invisible. In fact, I needed a rock-star day- you know, when ya wake up with the urge to put on heavy eye-liner and drink a beer with breakfast. I felt loosey-goosey, and so ambled out in the daylight in my "Lounge Lizard" attire. I was going for the jazz-musician-on-a-job-hunt look, and this Edun burgundy brocade blazer was the hair of the dog for me. With the saxaphone in the pawn shop, in bad need of a double Americano and a Lucky Strike, I'm lurking around the studio, trying to rustle up some crumb or my next gig. In reality, I'm headed to the corner market, and maybe a peek in The Daily Planet and see what's on the clearance racks. Sometimes, you want to dress for the life in your head, and not the one on the table.

Outfit Post: Canadian Cashmere

There was a brief moment of sunshine filtering through the slats of the window blinds. I seized the opportunity, grabbed the camera and tripod and ran out of the house. Bright sunshine, unfiltered by cloud, bled on my face and shoulders. It was a cold shot of sun- not having enough time to warm the walls, rocks or walks of my neighborhood. But the bright light seemed a good match for the pale sky blue  coat I was wearing- an icy pastel of cashmere blazer that seems something a beautiful  blonde Swedish woman would wear for a winter outing.

outfit post: Red Plaid Blazer

Every Body, Every Wear: February 8th is wear your blazer day over at everybodyeverywear.com
Is it the year of the blazer or something? Because I've been CRAVING blazers like nobody's business. Last year, maybe 3 hung in my closet and seldom got worn. This year, my closet has a row of them! A whole row of some serious classic jackets in all colors, fabrics and sizes, and I am chomping at the bit to start wearing them. Today was mild enough to sport a sportscoat, this one a collegiate plaid blazer that was discovered in a thrift store in brand new condition, and begging to get scuffed up a bit. Nothing like a little uptown getting down & dirty.

Thanks to Terri of Rags Against the Machine for telling me about Every Body, Every Wear, a community website that coordinates a mass wearing of different basics. For instance last month was S-SSStripes, and before that- GINGHAM. Well, you know how much I love stripes, and gingham? About as much as l LOVE plaid. Which is equivalent to me getting caught up in a three way with Daniel Craig AND Anderson Cooper. Sizzle.

Speaking of sizzle, I have the honor of being interviewed today over at Statements In Fashion. Every Tuesday, Colette highlights a different Twitter friend on her blog, and this week I am the feature on Twitter Tuesdays! If you haven't checked out Statements in Fashion before, this is an excellent time for you to do so! Collette is a fashion writer, a style maven and a sweetie-pie and a half! Click here to read her feature of yours truly.

Thanks to Twitter, I have made a lot of new connections recently, thanks to Twitter. It seems easier to stay up-to-date with my fellow blog-mates by tweeting than just leaving comments at the end of our respective posts. I've made fast friends with the wonderful likes of Mrs. Winterbottom, Mrs. Miscellanea, and the adorable Fuyume, among others, from all of our respective tweeting. Plus there has been an added boon of getting more traffic to the Citizen, because my Twitter pals love to re-tweet my posts! I've really seen a notable increase in visitors since I've jumped on the Twitter bandwagon. So look me up, friends, and tweet my sweets: @citizenrosebudz
