Rainy As Roses

Rosebud widget courtesy of Reva's Rags to Roses

I am a rambling rose. Especially today.

A few nice words have been said recently about the Citizen, and in regards to last week's open house, it's been honey to the ears. The event was a smashing success! Some visitors took some snaps, and a few of them made it into some blog posts, written by friends, old & new.

My lovely new friend Loressa and her boyfriend, Ethan have just moved from the Tahoe area & are a wonderful addition to Midtown. I just met them last Sunday at the Citizens of Rosebud HQ; I loved their positive vibe! Loressa writes a blog called L on Sac and you can read about her Citizen experience by clicking here

Kerry, who you may know, contributes to Street Style SACRAMENTO, and writes her own blog Fashion Farms and Freedom. She posted a wonderful photo essay on the Citizens of Rosebud, capturing the essence of the space. You can see her tribute to the Citizen by clicking here.

Before you start thinking that all the lovin' for the 'BUD is just coming locally, think again. The lively REVA of Reva's Rags 2 Roses has been a widget fool, creating a tidal wave of widgets for me. She had already created the beautiful header for this blog (see above), and has been working on one for my Etsy shop (Still on vacation mode, thank-you very much). If that wasn't enough, she just made a ton of "ads" like the give-away  you see in the sidebar. THANK YOU SO MUCH REVA!

And speaking of the give-away, don't forget to enter to win! There are 3 fabulous prizes including a blogger swag bag, full of treats by such wonderful vendors like Crimson & Clover, Haiku Moving Company, Transient Treasures, and New/Old Jewelry. Contest ends December 15th, and you can enter everyday by leaving a comment. So go ahead and get yourself singed-up for the GIVE-AWAY!

Last week the Colorado based artist of Haiku Moving Company found herself selling at the Midtown Bazaar. Kathy Laskey is in town visiting family for the holiday and she thought she'd like to try out Midtown's newest shopping experience on I Street. She was impressed with the warm and welcoming community that makes up the Midtown Bazaar. People like Nora of Transient Treasures (and Time And Again Fashions), Marilyn and Steven of New/Old Jewelry, Joan of Gram's Cookies and a handful of others who make the marketplace at the Midtown Bazaar so special. She liked it so much in fact, she invited her twin sister to come sell this Saturday with her!

Her sis, is none other than my hero: Kris Laskey of BUTT UGLY. As the premier indie fashion designer of Sacramento for over two decades, Kris Laskey and her cult label BUTT UGLY has acquired a devout following drawn to her vintage re-mixes of well constructed and clever creations. Oh, I've gushed about her a few times. You can read my previous posts about her occasional private sales here and here.

So this Saturday go here:

Midtown Bazaar
1616 I Street, Midtown Sacramento
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

And, may I suggest a to-do list?
  • gingerbread dipped in white chocolate cookie by Gram's Cookies
  • hot cocoa from Sacramento Sweets
  • a little sterling something from Jewelry by North
  • a white rosette hair barrette from Transient Treasures
  • a spiffy knit hat, or wallet from Haiku Moving Company
  • and a vintage inspired apron by BUTT UGLY
You might see me there. I'm headed over with Mama Q to the Midtown Bazaar in the afternoon. She wants to do a little Christmas shopping and I just couldn't think of a better place to shop. If you see me with my camera hanging around my neck, be sure to smile and say cheese!

My last bit of business is also my first: the Citizens of Rosebud. Lindsay & I have decided to open our doors EVERY Sunday the month of December from 12-4 p.m. I've got two more racks of new goodies to show you, and we're turning our "Five&Dime" row into a $2 dollar sale rack for last month of the year. Trust me, there are LOADS of pretties for you, my pretties.

So come by and explore the new HQ this Sunday, NOON-4 PM. Please note: the picture above is NOT the studio, but a fantasy rendition of the space. We are located right around the corner from the Fox & Goose in Midtown. Please e-mail me to RSVP and to get the address.

Sunday doesn't work for you? We're glad to do special appointments for interested parties, as well. So if you want to support local artists (and a certain floral-crazed blogger) give me a shout out: shop@thecitizenrosebud.com, and I will be happy to arrange a time convenient for you. You can also find me on Facebook: facebook.com/thecitizenrosebud

Happy weekend, everybody.

All of the features and mentions are much deserved! I wish I didn't live so far away. It's such a tease! Your Saturday sounds just delightful. To answer your question on my blog, I've never seen anyone ride their bike in the snow...until today that is! I saw a man riding through the snow and minus 20 temperatures with chains on his tires. Of course I immediately thought of you! You see, you would fit in just fine here! xx
