Outfit Post: My Huckleberry Friend

I've been eyeing this dress all summer. It was a limited edition run, so when my size sold out, I was disappointed but not all that surprised. It was a perfect dress. Classic, iconic and a bit quirky. In short, something that should be in my closet.  So what a wonderful little surprise when I get a note from Hilary over at Karina Dresses, that one singular dress IN MY SIZE was returned and available, and would I like it? YES, yes friend, I would.

Stars + Stripes: Audrey Hepburn get a striped tribute in a limited edition Audrey dress by Karina Dresses
The dress made of a breathable microfiber, is in a black and white print, cut on the diagonal. I love how it can mix almost like a chevron print. To me it's a bit retro, and versatile, meant to be styled in many different ways. What makes this Audrey dress special (I'm a big fan of this particular dress style) is the silk screen of its namesake on the front and back of the skirt. Gorgeous Audrey Hepburn, one of my style icons, peeps out in her inimitable way. The moment I tried the dress on, Moon River from Breakfast At Tiffany'sstarted playing in my head.

For its virgin voyage, I styled the dress very "bubble gum pop" and casual- I was running errands and was riding the bus that day, and I didn't want to look overly dressed. For added warmth, I layered with my AWESOME new black custom hoodie.  It's a vanity hoodie, because silk screened on the back of it is a big fat plug for my blog. It reads: I (heart) the Citizen Rosebud.

Sweatshirt hoodies are the unofficial uniform for a proper Seattle-ite. I know this because I was told this by more than one Seattle resident. Therefore, I needed to get myself one, you know so I can blend in. I got mine with a custom design from fibers.com. The fabric is high-quality cotton blend, and the screen print is just right- one wash and my new hoodie was soft as a kitten, while the graphic was still crisp and bright.

Man, I LOVE black and white worn with red. I love how the colors are are such a strong presence and go "pow", without a lot of work. I was soooo comfortable all day, even with all the running around I did, and I felt like I looked great, even at the end of it. I've been wearing the hoodie non-stop since I got it- and have so many plans for my very special, special edition Karina Dress.

But enough about me? Let's talk about you.
What do you think of me (and my huckleberry friend)?
Ha. Wishing you all a wonderful day!

What a fab frock! It certainly shows your killer bod off a treat! Love how you've worn it with stripy tights, proper kick-ass styling!
The hoodie is too cool for school, maybe I could persuade Jon to rock a Vintage Vixen hoodie as he lives in them! xxx

WOW. That dress is fantastic, and I love what you've done with the different stripes in this outfit. Red/black/white is my #1 go-to color scheme (well, besides leopard print, of course!).

Audrey, and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" have been on my list of inspirations since I first saw her (and it). Black and white, with red accents is one of my favourite looks - it's confident and eye-catching. The dress is GORGEOUS! I'm thinking I need a vanity hoodie with my blog name on the back ;)

I LOVE that dress! Looks absolutely smashing on you!

I love black and white too, especially with a pop of red! It's been one of my favorite color combinations since the '80s.

I used to watch and rewatch B@T just to kind of memorize the costumes! I think it's pretty much a prototype for a certain kind of single and fancyfree NYC girl-character that has been redone in movies and TV ever since. I think the Carrie Bradshaw character in SATC is modeled after Holly Golightly to a great extent.
