Outfit Post: Peacock Plaid

Preen Queen: Bella Struts Her Stuff
"For man, as for flower and beast and bird, the supreme triumph is to be most vividly, most perfectly alive." -David Hubert Lawrence
There's something about the color combination of deep blues and greens that sings to me. There's a quiet pride to these colors, especially when accented with a bit of red. Not loud, but in heard across the room sort of way. I'm wearing my favorite plaid blazer ever, AGAIN, which is a good thing. Come official signs of summer, this tailored wool gem gets stowed away until Fall. The plaid peacock  (I've christened the blazer) made its debut blog appearance HERE, which is quite a style shift from the look below. That look was more "street," or downtown; this one is um, midtown? It's not uptown, or poshy, but it is a city look, and great to wear for mobility. It's a look that I'm proud of.

#SHOPSECONDHANDFIRST. 99.9% Thrifted. 100% Plaid Perfection.

If you consider sneaker wedges practical, then I'm very practical and on-the-go. I'm not sure where I'm going in this ensemble, or why I'm staring down that brick wall. But clearly, I'm preening.  Just check out my pile-up of plaid! When it comes to being plaid clad, I can be counted on to strut my stuff.

Now Wearing:
  • heart sunglasses, PURCHASE HERE
  • vintage embellished cashmere cardi, SOLD!
  • vintage mens wool blazer, thrifted
  • vintage cat brooch, soon to Etsy
  • cotton sequined top, thrifted
  • jeans (Target, circa 2009)
  • Keds plaid tote (strap added), thrifted
  • Rocket Dog wedge sneakers, HERE

Ha ha! I love the glasses!

That blazer is fab.

I'm with you, blue and green are one of my all time favourite combos.

Your pop of red with it really puts your stamp on the whole outfit.

Plaid clad - yes! Gorgeous. Of course you're staring down the brick wall because you look GOOD doing it. I love those platform sneakers. I always have my eye out for them.

Love your tartan bag and jacket, gorgeous. And your glasses are brilliant..my daughter has a pair a bit like yours, she found them at the park & no one claimed them, so she inherited them!! She loves red, so she was happy to own them & said finding them was even better than thrifting, ha! Very cool look. Have a great weekend x

You look so bright and pretty, Bella. And my goodness, those legs, in those skinnies and the sneaker wedges! You've got a good sense of proportion and fit. I, too, love comminglings of rich blues and soft greens. Working on an outfit post featuring that very idea today, in fact.

You should be proudly preening in this vivid outfit, as you turn heads in any part of the city. Your confidence radiates and inspires!

Love that colour combination - peacocks know their sartorial stuff, and if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for mere humans! A great jacket, a great look. xxx

Oh, Bella, I LOVE this color combo, and I really love it on you! The sweater is great. I can see what it was snapped up so fast! You know what? I think of you now whenever I see something plaid! I know you love it.

Forget the outfit (which I love). It's your hair! Your wonderful curly, dark locks that are so beautiful. Love the quote. It's funny but don't you kind of know when you really are in full bloom? Ann Patchett said her friend Lucy Greeley had that quality all of the time. She could be dressed in coveralls and an old knit hat and men would approach her for coffee. This despite a disfigured face from hundreds of surgeries due to cancer.

The jeans---where did you get them? I've almost given up on jeans.

Skillful combining of color and pattern. Touch of red makes the outfit visually pop. Cool plaid bag!
