Citizen's Choice BEST Blogs 2010: Barbro Andersen

Her face is like an angel's. The camera is a Canon.

Meet Barbro Anderson, Norway's steamy answer to Fashion Toast, undisputed Queen of the Fashion-Blogger-Babes. Shy, sensitive and artistic, Barbro is more than her pretty face. Not satisfied with the role of mere model, Barbro also is a photographer and fashion writer, and she combines her love of photography and fashion on her self-named blog, where perfect bone structure, lithe poses and dreamy aesthetics reign supreme.

Citizen's Choice Best Blogs 2010: Barbro Andersen
The Citizen: What inspires you, your style?

Barbro: This question is always very tricky, I think. It's just everything, most things or some things. I'm inspired by nature, contrasts, complex simplicity and of course photography, music and art. I always say that I live in my own little bubble, and that pretty much explains it. I try to search within myself for inspiration, rather than looking at everyone else. I'm a strong believer in individuality!

Norwegian Wood: Nature plays a big role in Barbro's world
The Citizen: What are your favorite 3 blogs?

The Citizen: You've had some big changes in 2010, moving from your hometown to the "big" city of Oslo, correct? How has this changed the direction of your blog?

Barbro: Yes, I have! I've always wanted to live in the city, and now I'm finally here! I can't believe it! I don't think it has changed my blog, though - but it has changed my social life. I'm able to attend different fashion related events and parties, despite the fact that I feel really misplaced at them. I guess it's one of those things you have to get used to. Living in Oslo has also made it easier for me to get in touch with Norwegian designers, bloggers similar to myself and allowed me to strut down the catwalk dressed in the wonderful designs of Kjersti Vatle.

The Citizen: Another great change was your recent marriage to your partner (congrats by the way), has your marriage changed your focus at all? How has marrying your partner changed your life?

Barbro: Thank you very much! To be honest; we were already like an "old, married couple," so it hasn't really changed anything. I just feel more safe, and that's a good thing, I think. It's still very new and exciting since we just got married last July, but we've been together for five years and marrying each other just felt natural. There aren't any noticeable changes other than the fact that we now have papers, and perhaps a little bit more respect from other people in general.

The look of LOVE: Barbro and her soul mate tied the knot last July.
The Citizen: Would you care to share your "day" job with us? How has your blog changed your life?

Barbro:The blog is my day-job, so to speak; and it has changed my life in ways I couldn't imagine! I started it because I was bored and needed something to do, and I honestly didn't know what I was doing - I guess I still don't. It's learned me the importance of being true to myself and my style, and to not be scared. All in all, it has given be the self-esteem to be.. well, me!

The Citizen: Share some upcoming plans for 2011.

Barbro:Well, I can't say too much, but I do have some different projects going on! You may see more of my so-called modeling and perhaps even some DIY/designs.

Role model: Barbro moonlights as a model. I know I wasn't too shocked either.
The Citizen: Where do you see the future of blogging heading?

Barbro: If you mean blogging in general, I think we've only just begun to see what it can do to the world, but I have no idea where it is heading! The blogging sphere is so huge, I can't even begin to wrap my head around it. I do think bloggers eventually will have even more influence on designers and the whole aspect of fashion, as they are the direct link between the designers themselves and people in general. If you where thinking in smaller means and regarding my blog; I'm not sure. I'm happy doing what I'm doing, and continuing to expand my interests and knowledge.
Fashion journalist, photographer, cover girl: Barbro wears many (fashionable) hats.

The Citizen: Where do you see yourself on the fashion map?

Barbro: Haha, that's a good question. I'd say I'm at the bottom, trying to climb up, just like a lot of fashion interested girls and boys. I'm not sure what my goal is, or what I want to do, but for now I'm very happy exactly where I am. I can't ask for more :)
Barbro Andersen makes looking beautiful look easy.

Barbro and I have had a couple of exchanges at Chictopia. In this set of photographs, the one of the 'shadow of lace' is just fantastic.

what a beautiful introduction to this blogger's visual style and sweet personality. i discovered barbro's blog fairly recently so it's a special treat for me to get a behind the scenes take on her and her site (without having to read all the archives - not that that's a chore, just time-consuming).

Bella we're so lucky you're doing these great profiles and interviews! you do a bang-up job of it and we get our eyes pointed in all kinds of new directions. brava!! steph

@Barbro: it was a pleasure to write about you. In fact if memory serves me correctly..this isn't my first mention of your blog. Earlier in my blog career I listed you as a blogger to watch.

You seriously have such a wonderful style, and are such a sweetheart to boot. I am glad so many people share this opinion with me. xo. -Bella Q
