Over-the-Top, or just Over 40?

Hey Buddy,
So ya think we're too OLD to be TOP TIER?

Uh, get OVER it.

Here's the best of the best of the best fashion bloggers you'll find anywhere.

They just happen to be over 40 years of age. In fact, some of them were 40 a long, long time ago.
But they are now, super mavens of style, and not to be OVER-LOOKED

Check them out:
Bag and a Beret
Misfits Vintage
What I Wore 2Day
Not Dressed As Lamb
The Dusk Zone
Tamera Beardsley
Style Montreal Sud-Est

And...some honorable mentions:
The Elegant Bohemian
Style Higher
Dross Into Gold
Button, Buckle, Zip
Senora Allnut
Kitty's Vintage Kitch

Already Mentioned, but Worth Mentioning AGAIN:
Vintage Vixen
Helga Von Trollop
The Style Crone
Mis Papelicos

A big juicy hug and a kiss to Ari Seth Cohen for putting the +50 fashion maven on the fashion map. His "sterling" street style blog featuring the men and women in their golden years has put the spotlight on a generation previously invisible to the fashion machine. Now you'll see gorgeous specimens of "a certain age" modelling for the likes of American Apparel, Lanvin and others. His blog required reading, not just the over 50 crowd, but for anyone interested in fashion, and you bet you'll find it in the readers of millenials and twenty-somethings looking for colorful inspiration from the stylish crew of Advanced Style.

A great post from That's Not My Age has her handing out +40 Style Awards. Love that pic of Ari of Advanced Style!

Maybe it's all the catwalk watching I've been doing over at Style.com but man, I'm itching to see some older and curvier models tramp the ramp during a fashion show. How fabulous would these ladies be in the Spring 2013 collections of Dolce and GabbanaCreatures of the Wind, Vivienne Westwood Red Label, and Marni

Maybe the next best thing is going to be reading Sacramento's report on her front row perch at Milan Fashion Week!

Great to see you celebrating beauty at any age. I saw 40 in the rear-view mirror a looong time ago!

Thanks for having the over 40-blog roll. Age is just a number. It's kind of funny but when the big fashion magazines do those stories about fashionable at any age, I always hate the stuff for my age group (50's) Wear what makes you happy not what a magazine tells you you should be wearing. Bloom maddly!

,,,having just turned 50 in april i was doubting that i had any business playing in the fashion blogging arena. when i read your blog, "advanced style" or other blogs of the like it lends hope that i am entitled to a place in the sandbox. thanks for this post,,,

Thanks for keeping this issue at the forefront! As a nearly-45-year-old fashionable chick, I get a lot of odd reactions to what I wear. It's so comforting to know there are others out there like me!

Bella,
I love that you promote other 40+ bloggers. This is the time of life where we care even less about 'the rules'.

I think, but am not entirely sure, that you're including me on the list (Buckle Button Zip?). The link goes elsewhere and she's got loads of style, so maybe that was your intention.

You've always been a huge supporter of my blog and it's a continuing compliment.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! As someone that supports the underdogs, I am so happy you posted this. I've always been more drawn to older women (than me) because they've been through it all. Most of my friends are my mother's age and I welcome their great style and fun personalities. In my heart, everyone can be a top tier blogger.

Thank you Bella.

You're so right - older, curvier models would be such a improvement to the runways!

Without all these fantastic blogs, and the women behind them, I would be lost for advice and inspiration! Having seen most of 40-something there's not much encouragement in the magazines! Thank you for keeping track of all these gorgeous +40 fashion bloggers!

Bella, I am thrilled to be on your blog list because we all know you are the coolest of them all! It's an honour to be included with such fine company. Again, in Valkyrie fashion you lead the charge for good with your hopes of seeing some of the +40 crowd on the catwalks. What's great is we won't shut up! I look forward to Sacramento's report too. I'm keeping my heads up for a pic of her on The Sartorialist...

I mostly follow bloggers who are older than me, because they're a hell of a lot nicer than their younger counterparts! Although I have a few lovely blog friends in their 20s and 30s too

Thank you so much for the mention, and in fabulous company. It's a new day and you are leading the way. The world is changing and we are all in this together, altering the perception of aging and having fun doing it. I appreciate and admire all that you and Ari do to hasten the process with passion. Brava!

Not dressed as a lamb is one of my faves. She dresses super amazing it's my daily read. I also love Advanced style.

BTW, that tooled bag that you liked in my post is actually from US label Cleobella. I think the model of the bag is called Cantina and they have them in different colours and sizes.
If you buy it, I know you'll love it. The quality is amazing.

Oooooh yes please to older ramp tramps!!! I think they'd reinvigorate fashion and inject some life back into a tired, flaccid industry. I love me 40+ prosti's!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Hooray for these inspiring and fabulous blogs!!! And hooray to you for giving them a sustained shout out. I'd love to see more 40+, 50+, 80+ women represented in fashion. Maybe, as with the recent Lanvin campaign featuring some of the Advanced Style women, there's a crack of light coming through that wall.
