May Day, May Day! (and... Link-up)

You could say, this is my power month- when my favorite things are in full effect: flowers blooming, garden season starting, and time to pull out the favorite summer dresses and get to sportin' 'em. Also, it's my birthday month, and this year I'll be blowing one candle shy of the big 50. Holy smokes.

Time flies when you're a Junebug.
This is me, looking very brooding under a very lovely vintage mid century hat:

There's nothing like a riot of flowers growing all around you to really get one's spirit flying.

Another thing perking me up are my modest efforts at improving the photography corner at the studio. A fresh slather of white paint on the wall and some um... floor explorations have opened up, hopefully, more photogenic possibilities.  The mannequin has also been painted white, and she too, like the unfinished wall is a work in progress.
The vintage yellow chair and vintage velvet rose pillow were gifts from some neighbors. Two separate, awesome neighbors. Yeah, I've got it pretty good.
THAT'S THE TICKET: This vintage floral hat is my ticket into Judith's Hat Attack party for May.
The hat is a perfect topper to start off the month of May. The label reads Marie Gagne Quebec, and that made me think of this lovely. The hat is also listed for sale, and is my ticket into Judith's monthly link-up hat party, HAT ATTACK. (Feel free to use promo code HAT ATTACK at checkout for 15% off any order, including hats, over $10. Sale ends May 5th.)

Speaking of link-up parties- here's your chance to link your #SECONDHANDFIRST score, steals and shares. Link-up is open until Monday, May 5th, and all are welcome!

What a cool May Day chapeau! I love the colors of the ribbon. And your studio is looking pretty nice. I bet it's a fun place to play!

Oh Bella, how are you going to be almost 50? You still look younger than 40 to me, honey! I wish I was closer so we could get together for a birthday toast (or three, ha). I will try to join this link-up, let me find a picture! Also, completely unrelated side note, Adrienne and I are devoting the next 'How I Wear My' to sneakers. If I am not mistaken don't you have some Converse kicks in your closet? Join us my dear! We are accepting pictures until May 5. XO, Jill

You always look good in whatever hat you are wearing!!

Love the Maypole pic :)

Good job painting your walls and mannequin. Etsy does love a white background. I'll be doing the same here soon, xoxo

I'm loving the colors of the fabric which frames your hat and your gorgeous face. Thank you for sharing with Hat Attack.

Spring seems to invite transformation, and your photography corner is evidence of that. Your creativity is in full bloom!

I love that hat and it looks so good on you! I really like both photos, the brooding one and the smiling one!

Finally breaking the silence because a) you commented on my blog and I feel I need to reciprocate in kind, b) we are both May birthday kindred spirits, c) I actually have a recent post that works for your linkup and it's just rude to link and not say anything, and d) you're just the coolest person ever and I need to say that loudly and publicly. Happy May Day indeed! Here's hoping this is the start of a beautiful virtual friendship.

Yay! Secondhandfirst has gone weekly!
The scarf that you found that I gladly got is one of the stars in my link. That scarf has been a god-send in this very cold Northeastern "Spring". I'm still hoping I'll see (and smell) some lilacs before I hit the road again in 9 days.

Anne, that scarf was meant for you! I actually thought of you when I found it- I said: so very Spy Girl!

What a cool hat! I must admit I haven't ventured into hats territory yet.

I stumbled on a garage sale in my neighborhood and the lady was selling almost a hundred of her hats and each hat had a fancy box. Now I wish I snagged at least one.

Thank you for hosting this link-up so I can show my thrifted outfit :)

Bella, you look absolutely gorgeous in all your pics!! But then again, you always do. Thank you for reminding me about the link up. I always want to but then I forget. Haha. Just wait 'till you're my age!! You might forget too. :-)
