outfit post: Bella da Ball

Seriously? Is there a Polka Dots Anonymous? Because I think there's a meeting I need to attend.
Skirting the Issue: I am wearing 2 skirts in lieu of a dress. Don't judge. I like being clever.
This outfit looks so much cuter in my head than it does in the pictures.

Destination: a fashion show for Sacramento Fashion Week.

Inspiration: Clown.

I know, I'm CUH-razy! But for some reason I wanted to wear my colored polka dot skirt as a strapless dress- oh yeah, because I wanted to wear my new  We Love Colors red tights. Did you notice something? Yeah, no tights. I couldn't find them in time. Next thing you know is I'm all set on the  multi-colored- skirt-as-dress idea, and I paired it with a polka dot chiffon skirt as a bottom layer. I don't know what time of the day I decided that I looked like a clown and so went all out with the polka dotted ankle socks and a tiny hat, but I did, and there you have it. All I need is an itty-bitty clown car. Oh! And I'm also sporting a LindsayLindsay23 original: it's a killer patent-vinyl fanny pack. Yes. I said "fanny pack." Cool & freaky all at once. Lindsay reconstructed it from a vintage raincoat.  I love the delicate ruffles at the bottom, which you probably can't see very well from the picture. Oh, I'd decribe the bag as cute-bondage chic. With a dash of Harajuku. Yah, like I said CUH-razy. Not shown: a FRA-HEEKING amazing vintage designer jacket circa late 1960's. I'll give you details in a later post.

Let me take a moment and say HELLO to my new readers. I noticed a bit of a jump recently, and now am honored with 270+ readers.  I've been blessed with making the acquaintance of some pretty cool people, and I'd like to welcome you to my blog!

I love the polka dots! I'm really envious that you can go bare-legged. We had a heat wave yesterday and it got up to 34F....

Oh ho, I could not handle that kind of cold. I wore a bra because it was frosty, otherwise I wanted to look like I was wearing a strapless dress. And I wanted to wear tights, but vanity made me put on the ankle socks. : )

You can pull off and rock anything you want my dear Bella.
I have just arrived from the coast with the family, but I had to say hi to you before going to bed.
Mil besos.

"This outfit looks so much cuter in my head than it does in the pictures." hmm - i don't see how it COULD be any cuter than it looks to me!! i just love it! like so many of your looks, you can read it as a 'costume' but it is also just a great, flattering, on-point look - quite a tightrope to walk there :)

it was so thoughtful of you to stop by my blog - don't worry, posts are percolating and i've started taking pics of me looks again, almost without thinking about it (habit). i'm off to edit some pix!! take care, steph

I love the multicolored polka dots! I recently purchased a polka-dotted tee from Boden; I am coming to like them, too, and I remember you encouraging me to seek polka dots a few months ago when I was admiring a polka dotted dress in pictures of your shop!

Kristy Elena said...

you are fabulous with a capital FABULOUS!

not everyone can wear polka dots well but that is clearly not you. I don't think you look like a clown at all!! were the red tights really that bad? but as it stands, i really like the ankle socks. i wonder if polka dot tights would have looked cute or too much with this outfit.

and how do you feel about white with black polka dots? because i've been dying to find a dress like that and no one seems to have one.

@Kristy: Oh to say I love b/w polka dots would be a gross understatement. I think I own over 20 articles of clothing that would fit the description.

@Anika: I look forward to us meeting, hugging and chatting over a delicious veggie meal. Someday! xo. -Bella Q

Cute! You're killing me with the socks. I'm a HUGE fan of patterned socks. That reminds me that I need to dash down to Target to nab some St Patty's Day socks before they're all sold out. I wear them year round. ;) And Thrift Town? I was just at the San Francisco one & it was so expensive. Sheesh. And everything was stained. Total bust. :-/ Hope all is well! xoxo
