You know what they say: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So today, on a rainy day in Seattle, I joined them. Basically I'm grunged out- long sleeve layered under a rock t-shirt, rainboots, and the pre-requisite plaid. This is me, disguised as a native. Only nobody really dresses like this anymore. I am referencing the grunge era of the late '90s.
No matter, I got a handful of smiles, and a few compliments. I guess people in Seattle really like their plaid.

Ha! Well done - you look straight out of "Singles" (that movie does not hold up well, style-wise). I love the plaid and can't wait to unpack my fall/winter stuff.
I loved Grunge! It was awesome! You are interpreting it fabularsely! Can't go wromg with a bit of plaid, generally.....XXX
Well, it made me smile too. I have a genetic affinity for plaid.
I love plaid and 90s, so this is a win in my book! Man, I need to get me some plaid.
My husband up until this year dressed grunge. That was because he hated shopping for new clothes, so he still had clothes from the 90s. When he lost a lot of weight just recently (getting sick, healing, then working out), he started shopping for new clothes. Now, Old Navy's prep replaced the oh so cool grunge look he had, sadly.
You're totally right though. Nobody ACTUALLY dresses like the 90s. That would've been like a slightly frumpy but don't give a crap look. Kids today have the idealized 90s look on their bodies.
this is freaking fantastic!
You look so cute Bella, and I love this look, loved grunge, even the word makes me feel all good. xx
Oh i love grunge! Great look!!
If Seattle is anything like here, and I suspect there are many similarities, your style trajectory is on a whole different level than most. I love this outfit, especially the socks and rainboots.
Oh-hell-oo rock chick!!! Yes I too did this look in the 90s-didn't we all?! Although in Australia the ripped stockings underneath were de riguer. Thanks for the retweet--yes, I *always* notice.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I love this!!!!! The cut offs are perfect!! I swear I have the 'same' pair (that used to be my dad's--back in the 70s when men wore cut offs lolzzz)!! I keep them even though I can't fit :)
Love this rock-girl grunge-updated look, B! and your studio is really cool. xox
Your updated grunge look is so cool. I tend to stay away from plaid because of the early 90s, ha ha! Do you have time to join Adrienne and me for "How I Wear My: Animal Print"? Come on! Put on a leopard swing coat and join us. Please! XO, Jill
You are rocking the plaid--in fact you are the queen of Plaid in my book!!
I wasn't much into "grunge" during the 90's but i do love this on you!
You look rock-chick-cool, but it's your t-shirt I'm really wanting! I rarely wear tartan myself but you've updated the grunge look beautifully. xxxx
I LIKE your look, but I'm a Seattle native, so I guess that explains it.
You are giving Grunge a modern spin, but still staying true to the plaid, which always looks great on you. I love the t-shirt! Personally, I'm hoping the 90's never come back again as far as fashion goes.
Joan Jett and The Runaways, and Suzi Quatro, were my style icons as a teenager. I love your look and if I had the figure for it I would wear it head to toe tomorrow ;-)
I love this look! If I had my way I'd find a way to channel this into a more professional, graduate student look! Maybe I should start thinking of ideas. After all, grunge is the beat of my heart.
I love this look and you seem very comfortable in it. Like you were born wearing grunge : )
love the joan jett shirt. too cool
Adorable grunge--who knew! I'm not surprised you got compliments.
I love this outfit Bella it may be Grunge but it's not grunge:) You look awesome and funky and Seattle is lucky to have you!
Love the t-shirt!
Grunge never looked so good!
Ha! You aced it!
