outfit post: The Wicked Witch of the Wild West

When I was a kid, my fashion sense meant that I wore all my favorite clothes together. I was often mismatched, but loved everything I wore. There's a joy in the simplicity of choice when you just wear what you love. Today's outfit reminded me of my sartorial style of my childhood. It's a bit mismatched but I wore what I loved. For some reason, I wanted to wear my cotton black/white striped knee highs- and once I put them on, I thought of the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz. So the obvious choice for my southwestern sweater paired with my Ikat printed jersey knit dress, were my vintage Dingo cowboy booties. Not sure why, aside from the fact that I love them.

 Now Wearing:
  • heart sunglasses
  • vintage shell/silk necklace, wooden heart necklace
  • thrifted '70's acrylic "native" print sweater
  • shortened cotton Ikat print dress
  • thrifted striped knee-high socks
  • Napalese textile shoulder bag, Krazy Mary's
  • thrifted Dingo brand '80's cowboy booties

Although everything is mismatched, you've made a perfect outfit out of them! That's the best part of being Bella, I guess!! :)

This outfit shouldn't work but it does beautifully! The sweater's print is fabulous and I really like how it works with the Ikat.

You look so great. I was smiling the whole read thinking about you as a little girl, wearing your mix-matched clothes. I love seeing free styling little girls. I love when parents let girls dress themselves. That expression is like no other.

You are so good at pattern mixing. I think you need to give me a lesson in that, too. And you know I love those heart sunglasses on you! Oh my little fashion Lolita, how are you? XO, Jill

Once again you have articulated my thoughts! Reminds me of when I did the same thing as a kid and was laughed out of school-literally!

You mix prints so well! I love both the dress and the sweater! I too just gravitate naturally to clothes that make me happy ... can't explain why. But I've always been fascinated about the psychology behind that.
