outfit post: Cosmos
I haven't been able to shop much lately, as I'm on a very tight budget. Which hasn't bothered me, as I've got loads of vintage to dress up in, but what happens when certain strategic pieces, like, say, tops are either getting too small, or worn out? My t-shirts are stained (from work) and holy from age, and there's no replacement for the time being. What's a rosebud to do? Well, this t-shirt had a few bleach holes in it, so I decided to take it to town, and ripped holes all over it. It's fairly indecent without the camisole under it, but I kind of like the layered effect it creates. My leopard print belt peeps through, and the grey d.i.y. thermal shrug just seemed like a natural companion to the shredded tee. The outfit was then put together instinctively, so I'm not sure why the tights with strings and the brown woven bag seemed to fit with the ensemble but they did. And like me, the random overflow of cosmos growing in my neighbors yard just felt right.

super cute bella <3
Thanks, Ari. <3 U 2.
That is what I called creativity. If you just go to a shop and buy a Galliano outfit, that is an easy path. You are, as ever an inspiration.
I feel as I have known you all my life, extrange, no????
i love the back. the textures and forms are so intriguing!
Its good to try and keep reusing old clothes to make new ones. Creative!
I love your courage with layers. Another idea for creating new pieces out of old ones is to give them a little dye bath. I do this with almost all of my old shirts. Whether it be due to bleach stains, food stains, pit stains (ick!), or whatever it all gets covered with a new wash of color :)
oh dear! I love your shoes and your leopard print belt!
Oooh good work, this looks great!
Ha ha - I love that phrase - 'random overflow of cosmos'. It all looks so good together. Some things were meant to be
Love the cutting job :)
I always love a great new DIY and this one is a no-brainer, However, don't try to fringe a stretchy turtle-neck. It turned out really bad ;) You look so groovy!
As u can tell I don't wear the same thing twice, usually, and being on a strict budget as well, i am chopping everything !
Thank you all for your sweet comments. I'm going to have to keep up the creativity as the shopping just came to a screeching halt, lol.
creative destruction. :)
Lovely, funny flowers.
Great outfit! I hear you, girl. I am on a tight budget, as well!
I love your style!
that is the greatest way to recycle an old tee, you've given me total inspiration!!
q! you look amazing and very inspiring . Considering I will be shopping out of my closet for the rest of 2010.
that's inspiring. I'm trying to think of ways to style my tattered dresses - i'm really loving the layers. Thanks!
I found this tattered fabric at Mood that I want to use in some new designs and I'm going to use your real tattered T-shirt for inspiration. It's really cute.
