outfit post: the Folk-singer Poncho

Finally! A REAL Autumnal day in Northern California. I actually had to wear a sweater to go outside, and that meant I pulled out my sweater poncho. It was a thrift store score from Thrift Town last summer; a fashion find in the Del Paso Heights location, when the weather was a scorcher and nobody but me was shopping the outerwear department.

This little number SINGS to me of  the folk era, circa late 60's/early '70's. Affectedly folksy, with the high turtle-neck collar, and black knit body sporting a yarn embroidered  floral motif and multi-colored yarn fringe along the squared hem. I felt VERY folk-singer in it. The Band's Long Black Veil kept going playing my head as me & my honey ran errands during the early afternoon.

Now Wearing:
  • Thrifted vintage black-knit fringed poncho
  • D.I.Y. black sweater cuff with buttons
  • Gifted red felted wool cuff w/ zebra stripe, tactile Quality on Etsy
  • Target, jeggings
  • Target, black leather skimmers
  • Thrifted vintage needle point/leather hand-bag

I've been so giddy for fall fashion that I may have been guilty for jumping the gun on chunky sweaters and leather jackets. I sweat my way through it, heavy with regret. Sometimes my vision is just incompatible with mother nature.... Also that needlepoint purse is awesome.

That poncho is so cute on you. I love it over the skinny jeans with the "matching" bag. Really chic for a crisp Northern Cali kind of day! Wish I had that poncho in my wardrobe (except i can't wear wool it gives me a rash...sigh.)
