Substance

Last month, the lovely local blogger Natale Eve, of Evalesco awarded me with the Blog of Substance. Thank you Natale! Part of the duties of this award is to " summarize my blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience in five words, then name ten other blogs to gift (sic) the award to."

Well I believe that by giving a handful of awards when you get one, actually dilutes the viral concept of these blogger-induced awards, and weakens the prestige of getting one rather than strengthening it. So I am going to give ONE award out, for the singular award I was given. I hope this adds more substance to the Blog of Substance

My five words:  Independent fashion, Sacramento style.
You may note that it is really 4 words, so I have one to spare. It is the new heading for my blog, because I feel it says in a nutshell what this blog is about.

The blog I would like to honor with this award is not a fashion blog written by a fashion blogger. It is a blog written by my neighbor, Ari Lozano who is a student at Sac State who is majoring in both women studies AND theology. She writes a personal feminist blog called Feministified and in it she writes about a variety of topics with a feminist slant. Since she willingly tackles some tough subjects, I would like to present this award to her.

I really have to agree with you on how passing these awards dilutes the message behind them. I love that you did something about it and took it upon yourself to make it matter!

Thanks Becca & Natale. I am always truly honored when someone mentions me for a reward, but then the 15 other bloggers have to pass out 15 other awards, and we all seem to know each other, and then it somehow doesn't mean so much...in no time this one "award" is given out a couple hundred times in a week, at least. And that really takes out the magic feeling of feeling "swarded."

I never realized that the awards had to be passed on chain letter style (Pass this on to 5 other blogs or die tomorrow!). I like your idea of giving one blog the award to pass on. Much nicer. And I like your new motto too!

Ha ha ha, Heather, you don't die tomorrow! But you usually have to pass the award on to 10-15 other bloggers, so I've noticed a lot of my blog-roll tends to get the same award all at once. And the math is wrong. If an award gets passed out by the hundred (15 bloggers give to 15 bloggers, and so on,) I can't help but notice that everyone has got this silly thing, and nobody really cares.

I would like to be given an award that really makes me tremble with honor and delight. And that would be something not all my blogger friend have as tags on their sidebar. Some like an Oscar, but for the internet.

I guess those are called Webbies, and I don't stand a chance, lol.
