what I DIDN'T wear

Good morning! I was a bit inspired by my home-girl Emily's last post in which she created the outfit she was wearing in her head, since she had to dress in uniform for office appropriate attire. I liked that idea a lot, because my day job is a cook, and I can't wear dresses to work (an odd no-dress dress code) and don't dare wear anything that couldn't handle a bleach or grease stain or two.

So this morning I dolled up in what I wished I could be wearing before I put on my work clothes and headed off to the salt mines
"Those are the shortest shorts I've ever seen you wear, "
My dear ol' D said to me when he swung by after work to pick me up. We were headed over to the Tower Cafe to sip $2 dollar Anchor Steams and meet with some friends.

They are indeed, very short. I had just put my fantasy wearing in-my-head outfit back on, and that entailed putting on the short shorts. And I probably shouldn't be sportin' them. Being a uh, womanly sort, it's probably best to keep hems nearer to the knee. ZZZZZZ. Boring! Besides, these shorts are super cool. I got them last summer from Target. They're organic cotton, made by Loomstate for Target and they've got the cutest little bird print all over them. And in my head, I'm sporting them with my high-heeled gladiator sandals, looking all summer-in-the-city

But in real life, I put on a pair of ballerina flats. Casual went better with two dollar beers.
Now (not) Wearing:
  • Vintage paper sunhat, thrifted (Hope Chest Thrift in Modesto)
  • Black Bishop Tee, Forever 21
  • Loomstate for Target, organic bird print short-shorts, Target
  • Polka-dot purse, gifted (and from Goodwill)
  • Gladiator heeled sandals, Target
(PS: I'd be so happy if you'd hype my look on lookbook.nu. I'm like a dinosaur over there)

Oh I love it. Short shorts are awesome! I say wear them out as much as possible because when we get old and wrinkly, we probably won't want to wear them anymore :P

RE your comment:

I didn't mean to sound like a bum in my post, I guess what I really meant to say is that I don't think I have found that one thing I want to be excellent at. Some people seem like they are born to do somethings and I like to do a lot, but I don't desire it you know? Who knows, I am still living, maybe I am meant to be a mother or at the job that I will eventually get that pays more than $9 per hour lol :P

Sara, I challenge you to be excellent in every one of your endeavors. Trust me, I suspect you're up for it.

Love the bracelets! Are they Persona?

Hello Lyn, thanks, the "bracelets" are really a metal and ribbon belt that I wrap around my wrist. A $4 thrift store find from last summer.
