Every year, while you my friends are celebrating Memorial Day weekend, I am turning one year older. This year I am 46 years old. While I realize that the adage "a lady never reveals her age" has good sense, I am telling you my age because I want to show that this tree is proud of her rings. I am rich with history, and full of memories worth remembering. Rather than try to hang on to the glory of youth, I'd like getting comfortable in my own skin, and relishing my present.

My mother gets awfully upset every year on her birthday, even though she has fabulous genes and looks fantastic, but she gets really down and panics about getting old. I see birthdays as celebrations, we don't get enought reasons to party til the morning so what th heck, embrace every B day!!

Happy birthday again, dear Bella! I also never hesitate to reveal my age. Especially when I think of a wonderful woman I worked with years ago who recently lost her battle with cancer at age 40. Life is precious. Every moment, every day, every year is a blessing. We should always celebrate our birthdays and the time we have with those we love.
It's funny how our perspective on age changes as we get older. You reveal you're 46, expecting a gasp from us at how old you are -- and yet I, further down the line at 53, think of you as a kid!
Seriously, one of the big perks of aging is when we learn to accept ourselves and release ourselves from binding social expectations. Most women, in their 40's, shed these and feel their lives improve dramatically as they do. I hear that in your voice.
I agree with Vahni, everyday is precious. Revealing your age, is a concept of being true to yourself, and proud of where you came from. Like a tree, you are stronger and sturdier with age. Like good wine Bella, you sure get better. You are an enormous inspiration to me and your praised comments motivate me to be motivated by peculiar things rather than the obvious, looking outside the box, and finding the beauty within.
I hope you enjoyed your birthday with great company, and of course cake! You can't let a birthday pass, with a out a slice of cake!

My gawsh, I constantly want to shake women who are scared of their age. I agree with a lot of the comments, every year, minutes, second, is a gift and a blessing and it's best to count all of them and love all of them for what they are.
