rambling ROSE

Yeah, babies: I don't feel like coloring inside the lines.

I've been feeling a bit spread thin as of late. Not that life isn't buttering my toast both sides so to speak, but it seems what I've got on my plate is making me lose my focus. And it's been showing in my blog, which seems to have veered off from its fashion focus and is stumbling off the beaten path of, uh, other things, like personal, I guess.  Not sure what. I think I'm working some stuff out. Hope you can bear with.

Firstly, let me say a big HULLO to my new readers and followers! I feel I don't thank you all enough for stopping by my blog, and actually reading the stuff, and for which I AM VERY GRATEFUL! Thank you so much, dear people for getting to know me, and letting me get to know you. I'm now at a generous +300 followers and subscribers, and I am terribly fond of all of you!

If you have been keeping tabs on the 'bud, you of course know that my wo-manifest destiny has taken a turn into the world of freelance & self-employment, and so I have put my moolah where my mouth has been (NOT A PLEASANT VISUAL, TRUST ME) and plunked myself down in a hospitable new abode for the Citizen Rosebud Head Quarters. I've been busy packing, moving and unpacking lately, and I am FEELING REALLY GOOD about my new place! When it is all up and running I'm going to have an open house and of course blog about it. In the meantime, please enjoy these snapshots taken from my iPhone:
The Thinkhouse house: the Citizen Rosebud now headquarters here

The Thinkhouse is located at 1726 11th Street...

...and lucky for me, is right around the corner from one of my favorite Sacramento watering holes, The Fox & Goose. Which is where I met Ann from Annimal House for a brewski the other night. For those of you who are already a fan of her via her amazing fashion blog, let me just tell you: ANN IS EVEN COOLER (and more beautiful) IN PERSON. Seriously, one of the coolest people I've ever run across. And just as cool is her better half, Stan (or Stanimal) who also came by and joined us for a pint and a bite. Stan is the techy/artist of Ann's blog. He's the one that came up with the awesome "Color Me Annimal" in which Ann becomes a character from a coloring book that YOU get to color. Check it out here if you haven't already.
Annimal and Stanimal of Annimal House
Cheers to beers, Ann!

And here's what I wore today:
Bold stripes is like the cheese spread to the Polka Dot print cracker. Tasty!
Note the laser eye-balls, courtesy of my newest shades from Target. I love the Tiffany-blue of the plastic frames and the shiny, chromed & mirrored lenses.  No make-up today, but I am hoping my killer black & white striped over-the-knee socks will distract you from my lack of lipstick.

Now Wearing:
  • Shades: Target
  • Dress: Cotton dress from F-21 purchased about 3 years ago
  • Shoes: Flats from Anthropologie bought around the same time.
  • Not seen: black tap pants, for modesty.
  • Bag: Butt Ugly tapestry bag (10 years old)

I feel you, sister. I've been trying to work around what's reasonable to manage, what's important for me to keep up and what's acceptable to let go of, (dishes?), and what isn't, (running, blogging, movie nights with hubby). Phew! It's been a time of transitions, trial and errors but I'm starting to find my groove. I'm had to really focus on what was an acceptable minimum level of engagement on all fronts and I'm giving it a trial run. So far? Not too shabby. Less burnout, more sleep!

I also made peace with the fact that sometimes I won't have anything clever to say. That's when I just let the pictures do the talking and I get the rest I need. It ain't easy doing what we do.

For the record, (good grief, this is a novel!), I always enjoy reading about your life. The blogs with the perfect "everything", (whatever that is), don't call out to me over and over again and they inevitably fall off my radar. I want my citizen real. Fe' realz, yo.
xoxo, f

Oh, how exciting. I didn't know you plunged into the freelance world. Pretty new reader that's why. As of your blog going more personal, well I thought it was all about that honestly. I enjoy reading a blogger who lives and also shares parts of their life outside the main topic of the blog. And thank you for sharing with us.

Congratulations on freelancing! I like some personal stuff in the blog because it's nice to get to know you. I think it would be interesting to hear more about how you came to be freelancing and what all you're doing since I'm a fairly new reader, too, I'm not up to speed yet. The dots and stripes...very fierce. Nice.

So jealous of the new Rosebud digs, they are gorgeous! Please adopt me so I can move in? Like a hideout from husband and kids that (sometimes) drive me crazy? A little respite from NYC?

I actually discovered your blog in the midst of your move and I love the tone of rambling rose :)

Your new digs look great and right around the corner from one of your fave hangs is never a bad thing. Glad you are having yummy feelings for the new HQ.

Lovin the new digs - what a great color. No worries about trying to keep all the balls in the air, its more than okay to drop the less important ones from time to time in the name of sanity and good mental health. Sending good vibes your way from the east coast!

That's what personal blogs are for...the occasional sharing of those things which one hadn't originally planned to share!!! I wish you great luck and many blessings in your freelance/self-employed path!

You are so cute in this black and white look; it screams I'm confident, fine, and enjoy life!

No need to apologize for the lack of makeup; you're beautiful without it!

I love this outfit on you. It looks perfect under the Gothic looking entrance. Also, Ann seems really awesome. I mean I want my own color page! That is so cool.

The Thinkhouse is gorgeous! Congratulations on your move, and I totally understand having to let the disciplined style blog go a bit when there's interesting, labor intensive, thought-demanding Real Life to deal with.
